Meet Andrew
I’ve been a fishing guide on the west coast of Vancouver Island for almost a decade, however, fishing started for me when I was just a boy, casting for trout in small creeks and fishing for walleye and pike in Northern Ontario lakes.
Many years ago I came to Tofino on a fishing charter and fell in love with the rugged west coast and hard hitting chinook salmon. That was enough for me to move to the Island and become a guide shortly after. I’ve been lucky to fish out of some pretty amazing places around Vancouver Island, however, Ucluelet and the Comox Valley is where you’ll find me most.
Guiding has become a passion of mine and I enjoy being able to take people out on the water and give them an experience to last a lifetime.

Because safety is a top priority, I carry Marine First Aid, Marine Emergency Duties (MEDA3), Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) and my Radio Operators Card (ROC-M).

Kingfisher Escape 2425
The boat we’ll be taking out on our tours is a brand new 2020 Kingfisher Escape, model 2425. It offers spacious fishing room on the back deck and comes with a fully enclosed heated cabin. With a 300hp Yamaha 4 Stroke, we’ll reach our destination fast with our top speed just south of 50 mph. Another great feature is our upgraded 25 hp kicker for trolling, and is an extended safety feature in case of emergencies.
All the electronics on board are the trusted Lowrance system with dual plotters for navigation and putting us on the fish as well as dual radar screens for those foggy days where we’ll need assistance.
This boat is loaded with many features including autopilot, 2 VHF radios, a flushing toilet, heated cabin and all top of the line safety gear required by Transport Canada so we can have a fun, relaxing time out on the water.

A typical day

Casting off from Ucluelet
We’ll meet as the day breaks at the Small Craft Harbour in Ucluelet, BC. As you board the boat and get comfortable, I’ll go over some safety features and let you know our plan of action for the day ahead. Nothing like smelling that fresh, salty air in the morning while we cruise out of the harbour and make the charge for our chosen fishing area that day. The ultimate goal is have you hook into as many fish as possible while fully taking in that rugged west coast experience you came for. On the way in your catch will be cleaned and bagged for transport.
